How to use the Glossary

Our AI translations work with the Google Translate API. However, in some cases, you might want to pre-overwrite the transaltions for specific words/phrases.

For example, you might not want to translate your brand name, or, you don't like how Google translates specific words or phrases and want to tell the AI to output different results when it encounters that text. In such cases, you can use the Glossary feature.

You can find the glossary under the Glossary tab in the main menu of T Lab:

The Glossary feature affects only future AI Translations.

How to add words/phrases to your Glossary dictionary

To add a new glossary rule, simply click the Add new button:

Let's say that your store's brand name is Translation Lab and you don't want this phrase to be translated. All you have to do in the newly added row is to write Translation Lab in the leftmost field, which is your primary language:

Then, on the right, for each language, write whatever you wish the AI Translate to output when you translate your resources with AI. Then save the changes.

Or, in case you wish to have the word/phrase not translated by the AI, simply click the blue arrow:

And this will copy the value to all languages:

Then click Save to save the Glossary rule in your dictionary.

That's all! Now, for any future AI translations, our app will not pass Translation Lab to Google for translation, but will rather use this predefined dictionary to output Translation Lab for both German and French, rather than translating it to Übersetzungslabor which is the translation in German or to Laboratoire de traduction for French.

Note, that the glossary rules are case sensitive, so you might want to add multiple rules if you have the same word phrases throughout the website starting with both upper and lower case letters.
